Team tactical system developed by Switzerland in the 1930s in which all players move forward when on the attack but all fall back in defence when the opposing team counter-attacks, the forwards attempting to confront this counter-attack at the halfway line.

► The bolt was introduced by the Austrian Karl Rappan who was player-manager of Servette Geneva in 1932 and later went on to become Swiss national coach.
